About Orchid Florida
Although the term “Orchid Island” technically describes all of the portion of North Hutchinson Island that lies within Indian River County, when you hear someone refer to Orchid Island in conversation, they are likely talking about the town of Orchid.
The reason is that much of the town of Orchid is comprised of the gated community within the Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club. Outside of this private club, the balance of the area that makes up Orchid is primarily uninhabited nature preserve.
So, the town of Orchid is not large, but is important none the less because it one of Indian River Counties most desirable locations to live. At one time Orchid was listed as 6th on the list of highest per capita income locations in Florida.
“Orchid Island is in an ideal location. It’s in one of the nicest spots along the Treasure Coast of Florida. The club is simply outstanding.”
